Self-Hosted Cloud Server Network Relay in 3 Minutes
A step-by-step guide to buying a NAT VPS, configuring port forwarding, installing 3x-ui, creating a VLESS REALITY Vision node, and importing it into v2rayN, with commands, settings, and screenshots.
This tutorial uses a low-cost NAT VPS to set up a personal proxy. First, configure port forwarding in your provider's dashboard. Then install 3x-ui, create a VLESS + TCP (RAW) + REALITY + Vision node, and import it into v2rayN.
Before You Start: Understand the Two Sets of Ports
A NAT VPS exposes services through port forwarding. Server applications listen on internal ports, while browsers and proxy clients connect to external ports. This distinction is essential throughout the setup.
This article uses example ports for reference. The ports are configurable, so choose the values appropriate for your instance. Replace them with the ports assigned by your provider.
| Purpose | Public Endpoint | Internal Listener |
|---|---|---|
| SSH | TCP 59783 | TCP 22 |
| 3x-ui management panel | TCP 58869 | TCP 2053 |
| Proxy node | TCP 58868 | TCP 2081 |
The panel and the proxy have separate endpoints. Port 58869 opens the management panel, while port 58868 connects to the proxy. They are not interchangeable.
